AC Milan And Juventus Face German Competition For Real Madrid Midfielder
AC Milan and Juventus target Mateo Kovacic may not move to Italy at all as German club Borussia Dortmund are interested in him.
The Real Madrid midfielder moved to Spain fromInter in 2015 and it had been previously reported thathe could make a return to the city, only for the Nerazzurri’s bitter rivals AC Milan.
Now, however, as reported by Bild, the 22-year-old’s next destination could be the German Bundesliga as Borussia Dortmund have expressed a desire to bring his services to the Westfalenstadion.
A move away from Los Blancos for Kovacic would not come as a surprise after a season to forget in which he scored just one goal in 34 games.
The Croatian international regularly started from the bench while in Spain and didn’t start any of the club’s final 10 games of the 2015/16 season.
AC Milan and Juventus renew transfer rivalry in Pjaca pursuit
Since battling in the transfer market in 2013 soured their relationship the Serie A giants have rarely contested each other for players but that is set to change
AC Milan and Juventus look set to end their transfer market truce, as the race for Croatian starlet Marko Pjaca intensifies.
Since falling out over Carlos Tevez’s move to the Bianconeri from Manchester City in 2013 the Serie A rivals have seemingly chosen not to challenge each other in the transfer market.
Back in the summer of 2013, Rossoneri vice president Adriano Galliani went public with his belief that the Argentine would be pulling on a Milan shirt that season, stating that “Tevez will not betray me,” when circulating a picture of them at dinner.
However, Juventus general director Beppe Marotta swooped to take the striker to Turin and he became fundamental to the side that nearly won an historic treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League in 2015.
It was not only the Tevez deal that brought the unwillingness to compete head-to-head in the market, with the Rossoneri ‘stealing’ Andrea Poli from Sampdoria under the noses of the Old Lady later that summer.
Another Blucerchiati man seemed Milan bound in July 2013 but the Bianconeri out-muscled the Rossoneri once more as striker Simone Zaza chose to move to Turin instead.
With Dinamo Zagreb starlet Pjaca’s impressive displays at Euro 2016 recently bringing him to the attention of several top European sides, the two Italian giants are set for a no holds barred fight for the youngster.
Another Croatian set to test the relationship between Marotta and Galliani is Mateo Kovacic, with both sides keen to bring the midfielder back to Italy should Real Madrid make the ex-Inter man available for transfer.
