AC Milan Confirm Contract Extensions Of Two Colombian Defenders

AC Milan have confirmed the renewed contracts for defenders Cristian Zapata and Jherson Vergara.
The Rossoneri have extended the deals with the two Colombian players; Zapata will be playing at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza until 2019, as well as Vergara, currently on a loan spell at Livorno.
Zapata, 29 years old, had transferred to the Diavolo side from Villareal in 2012, for a fee in the region of €6 million. The Serie A veteran had previously spent six seasons with Udinese, earning a reputation as one of the most solid defenders in the league.
Zapata accumulated 16 Serie A appearances with Milan last season, scoring one goal; the scarce playing time is due to the arrival of Alessio Romagnoli from Roma during last summer.

Seven-time French champions enter race for Villa asset

According to le 10 Sport, French Ligue 1 side Monaco have entered the race to sign Aston Villa full back Jordan Amavi. The likes of AC Milan and Liverpool have been linked to the talented Frenchman, who would cost just under £12million.

The 22-year-old moved to Birmingham from Nice in July 2015 for an undisclosed fee, signing a five-year contract in the process. He managed only 12 appearances last season before injury cut short his campaign.

Regardless of the fact he only played 12 times last season, that hasn’t stopped the queue of European clubs hoping to sign the left-sided player.
He is nearing his return from injury but the fact he is constantly being linked with a move away from Villa Park leads many to think he will not be at the club next season. Roberto Di Matteo may want the player to stay, but every player has their price and it may be hard to stand in his way should a major European side enter the fray.
Talk of a move to AC Milan or Liverpool has somewhat quietened as the days have passed, but returning to the French Ligue 1 may seem more of a realistic proposition. Monaco, seven-time title winners of the French top flight league, are particularly keen to strengthen their defence and signing a highly-rated youngster such as Amavi would be a more than solid signing for them.
UP VALENCIA SHOWDOWN
He has experience of the league and will have a point to prove as well. Should he impress, then there is every chance Monaco could demand a big fee for him in the furure. Wages should not be a problem either.
MILAN – The Milan Primavera’s adventure at the Dossena Trophy will come to a close against the same team they faced in the opening match of the tournament: Valencia.

The two youth outfits went head to head in the opening group stage match on June 7 with the Spanish youngsters coming out on top following a 2-0 victory.

Stefano Nava’s boys bounced back in style however from the opening day setback, winning their final two group stage matches against Cremonese (5-1) and Torino (3-1).

Those victories set up a semi-final showdown with Juventus and the Rossoneri rose to the occasion, claiming a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Gabbia and Tsadjout.

Milan will now be looking to exact revenge against Valencia and lift the prestigious Dossena Trophy when the two teams square up at 21.00 (local time) today.

Two-horse race emerges for AC Milan job

Having missed out on Unai Emery, the Rossoneri have turned their attention to securing a home-grown coach, although any appointment will be delayed by investment talks

A decision must be made for the AC Milan coaching role, with Cristian Brocchi and Marco Giampaolo the top candidates for the San Siro hotseat.
The Serie A giants are still in the mire of negotiating the majority sale of the club to Chinese investors, inevitably delaying their ability to rubber-stamp a deal to employ a coach for the upcoming season.
Now the exclusive rights agreement on the sale has been extended to June 30, it appears that the wait will go on for Rossoneri fans to find out who will lead the team.
Current coach Cristian Brocchi endured a tough spell at the back end of the 2015/16 campaign, failing to secure European football or the Coppa Italia for Milan having taken over from Sinisa Mihajlovic.
However, existing President Silvio Berlusconi has faith in the 40-year-old due to his desire to play attractive football with young, Italian players.
His rival is ex-Empoli boss Giampaolo, who has enjoyed success with a number of clubs across the Italian leagues, leading to vice-president Adriano Galliani throwing his weight behind the Swiss-born tactician.

The 48-year-old would not be the big name appointment that the Chinese investors may be hoping for, but he’s certainly an economical option, and an available one.
That’s because first-choice target Unai Emery is set to leave Sevilla for Paris Saint-Germain, and Milan’s preference for Manuel Pellegrini has been put off by his €6 million salary demands.
